StickyNote
The Supernatural StickyNote reimagines the ways we connect over long distances. Presented is a concept for an approach to digital messaging that reintroduces a physical aspect into how we communicate, better responding to the psychological needs and wants of people.

The American psychologist Abraham Harold Maslow created the theory of the ‘Hierarchy of Needs’, emphasising the psychological conditions that serve as the foundation of human motivation.
These needs are gradually developed and satisfied from the lowest to the highest level; one need is dominant and the others are subordinate at each level.

Psychologist Urie Bronfenbrenner believes that a range of ‘ecological systems’ impact human development. The microsystem refers to the direct environment related to individual activities. The exosystem refers to the system that people do not directly participate in but have an impact on. The Macrosystem refers to a wider cultural background and its values, customs, etc.
Examining these theories served as the basis for centering environmental factors in designing a new approach to communication.
Bronfenbrenner’s Ecological System Theory ︎︎︎
Erik Erikson suggested specific psychological struggles that takes place through a person’s life, divided into eight stages. In this project, I am interested in young adults at stage 6. If people in this group are suddenly far from the familiar, both people and surroundings, they are more likely to want to increase their sense of intimacy by connecting at a distance. This is both a social and personal examination; I am seeking to understand my own desire for intimacy with others when I am in a situation distant from the familiar.

Advantages and Disadvantages of current methods to stay connected
